Greetings music lovers
It's been a long time since my last newsletter. This whole lockdown period has been a rollercoaster ride of disappointment and promise, frustration and thankfulness, wanting to hide away and longing to play live gigs. Most of my days have been spent in my basement studio trying to get better at what I love most - making music. It's not easy to stay motivated when I keep hearing a voice in my head saying ‘what’s the f#*$ing point?’ but Alysha and Tomi, my wonderful family, manage to keep me on track with enthusiasm and love. That is what I am truly thankful for and is the reason I’m writing this newsletter.
So, thanks to all this love and support, I finally have some new songs to share!
I just released two new songs. "Somewhere" explores the idea of an after life that is ‘beyond the hands of time’ where ‘all is revealed and all is perfection’ and where ‘we finally see past our own reflection’. Musically, it's a psychedelic trip through space in a pedal steel capsule surrounded by shooting stars.
The second song is my interpretation of "Love My Way" by The Psychedelic Furs. Alysha had the idea for me to try this song and I’m very glad she did because it really felt like new territory for me. I’ve traded the 80s synth sounds for mandolin and steel guitar and brought in my good friend Suzie McNeil to sing with me and take the last verse. Suzie is one of the best vocalist I know (her pre-pandemic gig was singing with Aerosmith) and she has a wicked sense of humour too!
Wish I could plug some upcoming gigs but I can say that I will be releasing new songs every month for the foreseeable future and at this moment in time, that means the world to me. Gigs will happen again soon, fingers crossed!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and taking an interest in what I do.
I love you all!
